Virginia State University is home to the legacy that sparked Stomp and Shake Cheerleading and the world-renowned Woo Woos, founded in 1974 by Dr. Paulette Walker Johnson. The only cheerleading coach inducted into the CIAA Hall of Fame, VSU Hall of Fame, and VIA Heritage Association Hall of Fame. Dr. Johnson built a program defined by confidence, precision, and pride...igniting a culture of excellence that continues to inspire generations beyond the sidelines.

Woo Nation will continue this legacy through workshops and programs designed to empower young women to lead with confidence, character, and authenticity. These programs will be rooted in the Woo Woos’ core values of discipline, sisterhood, and service.
